Water For People India Trust is a locally registered organization working towards improving quality of life by promoting locally sustainable drinking water sources, sanitation facilities and health and hygiene programs for people in India. The organization works as a development arm of a US based internationally renowned development organization ‘Water For People’. The organization believes that access to safe water and adequate sanitation are basic human rights and can help put an end to needless suffering and death from water related preventable diseases. In India, Water For People interventions in West Bengal and Bihar aim at promoting sustainable systems that facilitate provision of safe water and sanitation to communities and schools.

With a vibrant governing Board Water For People India Trust is providing supplementary support to Water For People (International) to realize the organization goals and objectives. The vision and mission of both Water For People (International) and India Trust is same and they have one Country Strategy Plan (CSP). The Trust is more focusing on intensive lobby and advocacy on WASH issues and also focuses on in-country resource mobilization to realize its CSP.

Position : Finance and Accounts Officer
Location : Delhi
Package Range : 3.60 – 6.10lacs (A competitive package for right candidate)

Job Summary

Lead a team to ensure proper implementation of all policies and procedures relating to accounts for assuring statutory compliances, transparency and accountability of financial resources and also to ensure compliance of all financial operations in the Water For People India Country Office and NGO partners as per Water For People Global and local policies and procedures and also as per Indian legal requirements. Ensure the accuracy Organization’s financial information by applying generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for financial reporting to senior management, Board of Directors & donors. Propose, implement, and evaluate financial policies, internal controls and accounting procedures. Demonstrate trust and teamwork in all aspects of Water For People India’s business, provide exceptional internal and external customer service.

Major Responsibilities

• Ensure proper utilization of Water For People funds and organizational accounting standards, systems and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure statutory compliances (FCRA, Income Tax, RBI rules, Companies Act, etc.) and organizational accounting standards, systems and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure realistic budgets and timely availability of funds to partners.
• Ensure adequate availability of funds by managing inward and outward remittances.
• Support and strengthen Risk management function within the country office operation.
• Ensure compliance with timely and accurate Denver Office requirements.
• Providing support and guidance to NGO partners for institutional development.
• Monitor budgetary compliances and appraise the Country Director through appropriate mechanisms.

Preferred Experience

Minimum of 8 years in independent handling of Finance and Accounting function, preferably minimum of four years’ experience in an International Non-Governmental Organization

Qualification/s

A Master Degree from a recognized University in Commerce, Finance and Accounting or a related field, preferably with a CA. This is a technical/professional and managerial level position and requires gook skills and knowledge of latest accounting standards and the GAAP and all related news on changing scenarios within the NGO industry.
